Okay here I am. So is there anything different with THIS version of D&D? I have a few questions about it. 
Compared to other versions, this one is more user friendly and easier for people to get on board. Ask away!
Is there a set continent or land that the 5th edition takes place? And what are the current gods/devils that are apart of the lore? Can I have a playable character that is not the standard races?
Not a set continent, but most stories are designed to be set in the forgotten realms, continent of Faerûn; The player's handbook contains all the gods you can worship, and for playable races, it is recommended that you select races from official sourcebooks or expect DM's discretion for a race of your own.
